Dazzling cricket debut for Bucks teen

Buckinghamshire’s George Russell achieved the rare distinction of scoring a century on his Minor Counties Championship debut in the Eastern Division game against Hertfordshire at Long Marston on Sunday.

The 18-year-old High Wycombe wicket-keeper scored 139 to rescue Bucks from a perilous situation on the first day of the three-day match.

Russell shared a superb partnership of 147 for the sixth wicket with Michael Payne, who made a valuable 73

Russell helped Bucks recover to 311 all out. At the close of the first day, Herts were 64-1 in reply.
