A MIXED Under 11 tag rugby squad from John Hampden School in Thame aim to showcase their skills at Twickenham, the home of English rugby, if they have their way.
The 12-strong squad has won the Southern Region section of the Tag to Twickenham programme with eight impressive victories at Aborfield Garrison, near Wokingham.

They now go through to the national finals on July 20 which are romantically set in the fields of Rugby where the game was originally created.

Tag to Twickenham is a national programme involving hundreds of schools and run by the RFU in tandem with the police to help raise awareness of the child victims of crime.

John Hampden entered the programme after being put forward by Lord Williams's School, a sister school in Thame.

Having come through the regional event where they were up against 20 schools, they are now looking foward to the national final.

Competition will be tough as here they will face the top two in 10 other regions, plus both the champions and runners-up in England and Wales to make a field of 24.

The two teams who reach the final will then get the chance to play against each other during the half-time interval of an England Six Nations match next season.

The programme is sponsored by Yazoo.

John Hampden Tag Rugby squad: Charlie Williams (captain); Scott Hall (vice captain); James Legg; James Buchanan;
Tom O' Condom; Tom Evans; Jordan Allsopp; Dan Denton; Ellie Aitken, Amber Legand; Illanah Naylor; Jo Taylor.
