THAME teenager Jordan Garnish was the overall winner of The Oxfordshire Golf League Championship, held at Magnolia Park Golf Club recently.
Young golfers from clubs across the county competed in an 18 hole competition, in very testing conditions.

While the Lord Williams's Upper School pupil took the honours with a gross 75, second was Dean Newbold (Frillford Heath) gross 76, and third was Jake Casker (North Oxford) gross 77.

The girl's competition was won by Flora McPhail (Frillford Heath).

Jordan and Flora have both qualified for selection into The Daily Telegraph Junior Golf Competition.

Jordan said he thought he had played well, but was unsure if his score was good enough for the win as there were some very good golfers there.

The youngster, 15, joined the Oxfordshire Golf Club about two years ago with a handicap of 24 and has quickly got down to a 5 handicapper.

He is totally dedicated to golf and hopes to make golf his profession when leaving school, like his hero Tiger Woods.
