Thame faced an unknown quantity in this Slough side on Saturday in the Division 1 West, not having played them in competitive cricket for several years.
As it happened, Slough fielded a Pakistani One Day International player in Mohammed Tahla, and not surprisingly chose to bowl when they won the toss.
The Thame openers started well again, but Tahla was bowling extremely fast and wickets fell at regular intervals.
Pratik Patel (44) and Sam Lachlan held the lower order together with a solid 49.
But after clever lobbying by his opposite captain from Slough, Thame were controversially docked 14 runs for running on the wicket, leaving Slough to chase 220. Tahla took 5 for 74. The Slough batting started well and Qureshi hit 51, but Thame regularly took wickets and an exciting finish duly arrived, with Slough just getting home in the last over, with eight wickets down.
Jaydeep Bhatti was the best Thame bowler, (4-74), but Thame felt they wouldn't have lost but for the earlier harsh penalty.
