Thame Swimming Club went back to its roots on Saturday to compete at the Wycombe District Swimming Club BC Meet at Handy Cross.
This was the largest squad of Thame swimmers so far assembled and all 34 were eager to compete against the best that Amersham, Maxwell, Hillingdon, Ruislip & Northwood and Wycombe had to offer.

By the end of the first session it was clear that Thames' swimmers were on form with a total of 9 gold medals and several silver and bronze to boot. In the end, Thame brought home an impressive 34 gold, 16 silver and 14 bronze medals as well as 4 speeding tickets. Girls Vice Captain, Olivia Hawkes, received the Top Club trophy from Steve Vine, WDSC Chairman. Head Coach, David Jones remarked "…I couldn't have asked for a better performance from our swimmers; they all put in a maximum effort and delivered exceptional results!".

One thrilling event was the girls 100M Breast stroke. Three of the Girls relay dream team, Hannah Hawken, Rebecca Smith and Amy Haarburger set out in lanes 2, 3 and 4 respectively. Rebecca lead the race from the start with Hannah and Amy pulling in 2nd and 3rd in a perfect spearhead. Also the Briars family celebrated in style, with Emma, Cheryl and Lydia all receiving gold medals. The biggest haul of the day went to Boys Vice Captain, Jamie Goetz, who took home a total of 7 gold and 1 silver medals.
