(THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 30) ON paper Thame were the favourites to win this match being two league places higher with four league wins this season, whilst Abingdon had only recorded one victory.
Abingdon, however, played well and earned their three points in this Hellenic Premier clash.
It's an old, and much used, cliché but this really was a game of two halves.
Thame were marginally the better side in the first half and led by a single goal at half time.
Whatever Abingdon manager, Keith Stopps, said to his team at half time worked, as they completely 'blew away' Thame in the second half and scored twice.
Thame took the lead in the eighth minute when Graham Jackson collected the ball in the visitors' half and played a good ball to Nathan Jack on the right.
Jack hit a shot, which was blocked by an Abingdon defender, but the ball fell to Jackson who finished with a well-placed shot, just inside the right hand post from five yards.
After 20 minutes, Jack forced a good save from the Abingdon keeper and on 29 minutes visiting striker Gary Hartley hit the crossbar.
The visitors dominated the second half and equalised after nine minutes with a soft goal.
Mark Walton took an in-swinging corner, which eluded the Thame defence before Paul Jezzard deflected the ball, with his shoulder, into the Thame net.
Abingdon's second goal came on 60 minutes when Hartley rose to head another Walton corner.
The ball somehow found its way through a packed defence and bounced before passing through Thame goalkeeper Paul Searl's legs.
The final 15 minutes saw a more even contest with promising substitute Luke Ricketts going close for Thame and the visitors hitting the crossbar.
The result does not change Thame's league position; they are still fourth from bottom, whilst Abingdon are now third from bottom.
Thame United: Searl, Johnson (Tripp), Watkins, Groves, Bell, Kitson, Jackson, Connelly, Weaver (Reading), Jack, Miller (Rickets).
Result: Thame United 1
Abingdon Town 2.
