RICHARD Mallinson, who lives in Sydenham near Thame, was out racing in the last two rounds of this year's Kumho Tyres BMW championship.
Richard, who races in class A in the championship, uses a BMW E36 M3 car.

After travelling all over the country including a trip to south Wales to race, Richard was poised to clinch second place in the class championship as well as a top finish in the overall category.

The weather was sunny and warm all day after the early morning fog had
cleared.

After a qualifying session Richard had placed his car on the grid in fifth place out of the 26 cars entered.

His time of 1 minute 36.51 was an average speed of well over 80 mph for
the circuit which measures 2.22 miles in length.

Richard's first race on Saturday morning was to be over 10 laps of the
circuit.

A good clean start and Richard was soon in the leading pack of cars travelling around the circuit.

The race was very fast and Richard was looking good and driving well

when the race was stopped due to an accident on one part of the circuit.

The race would have to be restarted.

When the race was restarted it was going to be a spring of only five laps in total.

Another good start and once again Richard was in the leading couple
of cars going around the first bend.

As the race ended after the allotted five laps Richard had come home in
third place.

The car went back to the paddock to be prepared for another race later in the day.

The last race for Richard in this season's championship was again
to be over 10 laps.

This race was an even faster paced race than the first one.

Richard's lap times were over a second quicker than in qualifying.

As Richard took the chequered flag for the last time this season
he had finished in third place again.

Richard eventually finished the season as runner up in class A of the championship and in sixth place overall out of 32 drivers who competed throughout the season.

Richard will now fully rebuild his car for the 2009 season.
