Young maestro takes the top prize as he cooks up a treat

A TALENTED junior chef has been crowned Chef of the Year.

Chris Kenny, who has worked at Thame Food Festival patron Raymond Blanc’s restaurant Le Manoir aux Quat’ Saisons, beat seven other competitors in day-long national finals in London last week.

Chris, who has been at Le Manoir for four years, is currently senior commis de partie but this win earn him promotion to junior sous chef.

The 23-year-old culinary whizz kid also won the award for the chef who showed the best kitchen craft.

Chris had to devise a three course menu for four people from a basket of surprise ingredients, including grouse and sea bass. He had to devise the menu and cook it in three and a half hours.

Chris was handed a cheque for £1,000 for his victory.
