A ‘lovely sweet natured dog’ was cruelly starved by his owner a court heard this week.
Anne Adams, 61, of New Road, Drayton Parslow has been banned from keeping animals after her 12-year-old Labrador George was rescued by RSPCA officers in July this year.
Adams had not fed George a suitable diet, and the court heard how he had been put through ‘unnecessary suffering’.
The pet has now been rehomed, and as well as the ban, Adams must complete 120 hours community service, and pay £1,480 in fines and costs.
RSPCA inspector Kirsty Withnail, said: “George is a lovely sweet natured dog and he has now been rehomed which is great news.
“It is so sad that he had to go through this. I would stress that there is help available to people who feel they are struggling to afford to feed their animals, through charities or even by asking friends and family to help.”
