An office worker is aiming to lose at least four stone in just 18 weeks for a charity weight-loss competition.
John Woodiwiss, 24, is taking part in the Rennie Grove Hospice Biggest Loser based at Nuffield Health Fitness & Wellbeing Centre - one of three participating gyms - and is feeling positive about his chances.
He said: “We are in a fresh new year, I have a job that I’m happy with and I can’t wait to see were I go with it.
“This summer, I’ll be where I want to be weight-wise. I’m not saying I’ll be Ryan Gosling by June but I’ll give it a go!”
Former Quarrendon School pupil John, who weighs 18 and a half stone, will have his progress tracked every Monday before a fitness session at the Fairford Leys gym.
John, who lives in Quarrendon, overcame bullying at school but during a difficult few years his weight peaked at 22 stone.
He said: “It wasn’t until only two years ago, I realised what I had done to myself and how big I had got.
“I went to school, came home, ate, then went to bed. I lost my first few stone just trying to eat healthily and not pigging out like I used to.”
