A group of 26 volunteers started the first stage of the White’s Field Hedging Project in Chinnor on Sunday.
The purpose of the project is to refurbish the 200 metres of ancient and worn out boundary hedge with native local species of trees and shrubs.
All new planting is intended to be bird and bee friendly and will give both food and habitat.
The first stage of the project was to clear the ground ready for replanting.
This involved clearing the line of the ancient boundary hedge between White’s Field and Mill Lane.
The organisers, Greening Chinnor, in conjunction with the Chinnor Parish Council, said they were ‘delighted with the turnout from many sections of the community and the work that was completed, in somewhat challenging weather’.
