Pubs across the Vale are preparing for the start of the football World Cup.
The tournament gets underway in Brazil tomorrow night and a number of establishments are planning to mark the month long festival of football.
Niche wine bar and club, based in Market Square, Aylesbury are showing all the England games.
Matches on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights will be followed by a DJ.
However, a spokesman for the club said that showing live football there wasn’t all good news.
He said: “Although a lot of games take place at times when we would usually be pretty busy, when people are watching football they are not as likely to buy drinks so we may lose out at the bar.”
There will be two 50 inch TV screens and a 10ft high definition screen to allow fans to watch the games.
Matches will also be shown at The Weavers pub on Park Street.
Landlord Bob Perez said: “We are planning to show the games live on a big screen.
“We are hoping for some extra customers watching England as a result.
“Personally, I am quietly confident about our chances.”
In this week’s People’s Poll on our website, we asked how far you think England will get in the tournament.
We’re not very optimistic – 49% think we will get eliminated in the group stages, 22% think we will reach the last 16, 20% think we will get to the quarter-finals, 3% think we will reach the semi-finals, 1% think we will lose in the final and 5% of you think England will win the World Cup.
