A FINAL push is being made to get people aware of the Thame Carnival, which will be taking to the town’s streets in two weeks’ time.

There is still a large number of residents unaware of what is going on so organisers are increasing their efforts to spread the word.

Advertising has been put up at the entrance to Thame and posters are displayed in shops across the town but still they are finding people unaware of what is going on.

Mark Green said: “It has been a bit of a surprise that not many people know about it, the main response we have had is people asking whether this is a new thing – saying they have never heard of it before.”

The carnival has been a feature for many years and Mark believes the Mardi Gras theme will make this year better than ever.

He said: “We want the whole town to get involved by wearing the festival masks – it will help us make it more of a carnival atmosphere.”

The carnival will be held on June 18, running through the town centre.
