A callous thief tricked an elderly Aylesbury woman into helping him so he could steal cash from her, police have said.
The crook rang the doorbell of the Intalbury Avenue property at 2.55pm on Wednesday and asked the victim to fill a jerry can with water as his car had broken down.
She took it into her kitchen to fill up and returned to find him in her hallway.
He then asked if she could change a £1 coin, so she went into her living to get her purse.
When she did this, the man followed her and then said not to worry about it and left the house.
The woman then noticed cash that had been on her sofa was missing.
The man was Asian, in his late 20s to early 30s, between 5ft 4ins and 5ft 5ins and of slim build.
He had short black hair pushed over to the side and was clean shaven.
He was wearing a rusty coloured suit and spoke in broken English with a Pakistani accent.
Anyone with any information or who may have seen this man should call PC Abigail Jackman on 101.
