The Vale’s Jubilee parties are fit for a Queen

ACROSS our area many exciting and unusual celebrations are being planned to celebrate Her Majesty’s 60 reign on the throne.

The Jubilee celebrations will take place on Saturday June 2 and Sunday 3, along with the Bank Holidays of Monday June 3 and Tuesday 4.

FRIDAY

> Princes Risborough Information Centre exhibition of past photos of the town and Royal memorabilia from 2pm-4pm.

> Stewkley Singers will perform an Evensong (evening prayer) at St Michael’s Church from 7.30pm.

SATURDAY

> Fun day at Weston Turville’s memorial playing fields from 12pm. Featuring pony rides and tug of war.

> Botolph and East Claydon childrens’ street party at 3pm and village dinner-dance at 8pm in the village hall.

> Childrens entertainment 11am-1pm at Quarrendon and Meadowcroft Community Centre.

> Princes Risborough’s Jubilee music festival, starts 12pm in Princes Risborough School. Details at www.rizfest.com

> Retired RAF Group Captain David Greenway will talk about life on the road with the Royals at 2pm in Risborough Community Centre. Evening concert at 7pm. For details call 01844 342460.

> Viridian Square residents’ street party in Aylesbury, 1pm-6pm.

> Residents’ street party on Highbridge Road by Aylesbury canal, 1pm-7pm.

> St Leonards Care Home on Wendover Road residents’ party 2pm-4pm.

> Bucks Railway Centre in Quainton will have vintage bicycles, a Lego train set and bus rally at various times over the weekend. For details visit www.bucksrailcentre.org

SUNDAY

> Long Crendon’s Big Lunch at 12.30 on the High Street.

> Community fun day on Quainton Village Green, 11am-2.30pm (Jubilee beacon on Monday).

> Street party, live music and big lunch at Aylesbury’s St Mary Church. Starts 12noon.

> Big lunch and evening live music at Stoke Mandeville Combined school from 12pm.

> Aston Clinton Park picnic in the park and fun day from 1pm.

> Fun day at Pitstone recreation Ground, 1pm-6pm.

> Bierton with Broughton celebration 2pm-6pm.

> Fun on Winslow sports ground 2-5pm, along with activities all weekend. Beacon lit on Monday.

MONDAY

> Village picnic, 3pm, Haddenham.

> St Mary’s Church in Aylesbury will hold a laser show from 5pm and light a ‘laser beacon’ on its roof.
