A letter thanking the people of Thame for their efforts in this year’s appeal

Dear Sir,

I am writing to personally thank all the people of Thame and district for the support they have shown to the Poppy Appeal this year. I am thrilled to announce that our final collection figure for this year is £16,440 – £6,000 more than last year. This is a magnificent achievement and I would like to express my thanks and gratitude to the team of volunteers who have made this possible.

This team includes street-to-street collectors, those who braved the weather standing in the High Street and the local shops, schools and businesses for having collecting boxes on their premises. There has also been a behind the scenes team of volunteers who distributed the boxes and collected them in. I would like to thank the three ladies who kindly counted all the money.

I would like to mention the support of the younger generation of the town, namely the Army Cadets, the Air Training Corps and the Scouts. I feel that this was a real community effort.

I would like to take this opportunity to highlight that new members are always warmly welcomed, perhaps there are some ex-National Servicemen out there who would like to find out more about the things we do, if so please contact 01844 261491 for more information.

In appreciation,

John Hussey
