A THAME woman has become one of Britain’s Biggest Losers after shedding a massive 12 and a half stone - more than the winner of the hit ITV show.
Elaine Horsey, 57, lost the weight during the last two years to drop down to a healthy 9st 10lbs and is now looking to continue her fitness regime by completing five marathons in six months.
First up is an overnight marathon in London on Saturday, which she will complete in her specially designed zebra costume, pictured above.
She said: “I have gone from being an unwell couch potato off work with lots of health problems into quite a fitness freak, so power walking is my thing at the moment.”
Elaine was inspired to lose the weight after watching Britain’s Biggest Loser and has used the courage of the show’s contestants to spur her on through the past two years.
She said: “I had never seen a show like that before where people who were really overweight did it.
“I never imagined people of my weight could do that sort of exercise but they were doing it. I could barely walk or stand when I started it but increased it gradually, then got into the gym and built on from there.”
Elaine will be doing the marathons in aid of Walk the Walk and aims to raise £8,000. To sponsor visit www.walkthewalkfundraising.org/elaine_horsey
