A tongue-in-cheek music act who describe themselves as the ‘UK’s oldest boy band’ are embarking on their Magical Misery Tour.

The Ian English Boodlum Band already have a loyal following and have performed at Aylesbury Waterside Theatre and Towersey Festival.

The zany quartet pride themselves on taking the best and worst from popular music as they riccochet between rock classics and pop hits to Thirties revivals and doo-wop favourites.

Ian English, who is on vocals and keyboard, said: “How many bands can boast a playlist that includes songs from the Ford Motor Company Songbook, the Devil Went Down To Georgia, Pennies From Heaven, Blame It On The Boogie, The Sailor With The Navy Blue Eyes and Bohemian Rhapsody? None, if they’ve got any sense!”

Ian, together with Adrian Broadway on bass, mandolin, phonofiddle, Dave Reece on washboard and Trevor Toms on guitar and ukelele are kicking off their six-date local tour with a performance at the Players Theatre, Thame, on Sunday. at 7.45pm.

Tickets are available on 01844 217228 or online at thameplayers.co.uk.

They will also be making appearances in Downley, Oakley, Long Marston, Haddenham and Towersey between now and Christmas.
