More than £5,000 has been raised for good causes in Bucks at the annual Sir Terry Wogan Golf Day.

The event, organised by Bucks Community Foundation, was won by ASM Metal Recycling in Aylesbury.

Foundation director Richard Dickson said: “In the current climate, we’re really grateful for all the teams that took part and it’s a huge endorsement of the work of the foundation with local groups for us to have got so many entrants.”

The funds raised at the golf day will contribute towards the foundation’s Diamnond Jubilee Fund which is aiming to make available 60 extra grants of £1,000 to support local community groups and projects in all parts of Buckinghamshire.

Since the foundation was set up in 2000, it has been able, thanks to the support of individuals, businesses, trusts and public bodies, to distribute £3.5 million of grants to 1,500 community projects.

The foundation’s next golf day is at Sonning on Friday October 5.
