A nursery teacher has been nominated for a prestigious award for her contribution to young children’s learning.

Kathryn Learner, of Haddenham, is the early years specialist teacher at Bright Horizons Nurseries and has been put forward for the Nursery World Early Years Professional of the Year award.

The title recognises teachers who have achieved early years professional status (EYPS) through a recognised pathway – something which Kathryn earned in March 2010.

She works closely with staff at a number of Bright Horizons nurseries to inspire teams to reflect critically on their practice and look for ways to strengthen and further improve the children’s learning and development.

Nicola Amires – director of Early Years at Bright Horizons and the one who nominated Kathryn said:“Kathryn is an exceptional early years professional, who in just over a year has made a significant impact on quality improvement on the nurseries she works at.

“Those she works with talk highly of her passionate commitment to ensuring every child has the very best care and learning experience at Bright Horizons and we are honoured to have Kat as part of our team.”

Kathryn said: “I’m overjoyed at being nominated for the award. It’s a great feeling to know that my passion and hard work is being recognised. I would like to thank everyone at Bright Horizons.”

The winners of the awards will be announced on September 27 at a glamourous event in London.
