Licensing offences by Aylesbury taxi and private hire drivers have been targeted during a police operation.

Seven were banned from trading as licensed vehicles immediately, while one vehicle was found to be an unlicensed private hire being driven by an unlicensed driver. This case will be dealt with by Aylesbury Vale District Council.

During the December 19 operation, 22 vehicles were stopped and checked for defects and council officers checked drivers had the right documents.

Six drivers were given fixed penalty notices and six prohibitions for various defects were applied.

These vehicles had licences suspended until defects are repaired and a MOT has been done.

A number of drivers were not wearing ID badges and not
displaying the correct signs, for which they were told to comply or face action.
