THE headteacher of Lord Williams’s School has paid tribute to the chair of governors who passed away earlier this month.
Ann Mayou died unexpectedly in her sleep on September 7 and a memorial celebration was held at St Mary Magdalen Church in Shabbington last week.
Current head David Wybron said: “Ann was a quite brilliant chair of governors.
“She made a huge impression on all the staff she came into contact with and so many have spoken about her charm and obvious passion for the vital work that she and the governors do.
“Ann’s commitment to the school as a governor for 11 years has been immense and she has helped to shape key policies.
“Her wisdom and calmness were always evident and to spend time with her was always a pleasure.
“She struck the balance perfectly of asking the right questions whilst being our closest friend and champion.
“She had a lovely, warm personality.”
