Oakley’s Matt French won a silver medal at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
The clay pigeon shooter was up against fellow Englishmen Steve Scott in the double trap final at Carnoustie, but he had to settle for silver as Scott produced a perfect performance to win gold.
Scott shot 30 out of 30 to pip the 29 scored by French.
The 33-year-old won through to the gold medal match after beating Asab Mohd from India in the semis.
Former Vale of Aylesbury athlete Ben Gregory, meanwhile, has completed seven of the 10 events in the decathlon with the final three taking place after going to press.
On day one of the competition on Monday, the Welshman kicked-off with a 100m run in 11.26 seconds for 804 points before he produced the fifth longest leap (7.42m) in the field in the long jump and then threw 13.03 in the shot put.
