An Aylesbury man who wrestled a woman to the ground and sexually assaulted her has been jailed for 27 months.

Shener Nihat Rutfulla, 34, offered to walk the woman, who was 21 at the time, home after approaching her in Gatehouse Road at about 12.30am on July 14.

When she refused Rutfulla, of Oxford Road, grabbed her, forced her to the ground and sexually assaulted her.

A police patrol was passing the area and the woman was able to get their attention.

Rutfulla was arrested shortly afterwards.

He will be deported back to his homeland of Bulgaria after he has served his sentence.

Investigating officer Det Con Deborah Lord said: “This was an isolated but horrific stranger attack that has had a lasting effect on the victim.

“Rutfulla pleaded guilty on the day of the trial, meaning that the victim did not have to relive the incident in court.

“I would like to thank the victim for the courage she has shown since the incident, as well as the police officers whose prompt actions resulted in the early apprehension of the defendant.”

Rutfulla was sentenced at Aylesbury Crown Court on Monday after pleading guilty to one count of sexual assault on the same day.
