Seven fire crews were dispatched to a bungalow near Princes Risborough when its thatched roof caught fire.

Firefighters spent around an hour tackling the Green Hailey blaze, which started shortly after 3pm and is believed to have been started by a gas heater.

Crews from Aylesbury, Princes Risborough, High Wycombe and Amersham attended, along with a command and control unit and two station managers.

They used one jet and a hose reel to put out the fire and moved a gas cylinder away from the blaze to cool it.

An area of thatch damaged by the fire was removed but the occupants were able to remain in their home and no one was injured.

A Bucks Fire and Rescue spokesman said the cause of the fire was unconfirmed but that a heater, which is thought to have been outside the bungalow, could have sparked the blaze.
