A TEAM of cyclists from Oakley are stepping up their fundraising efforts by taking on a London to Paris bike ride.

The quartet of Sara Collier, Ann Walsh, Sue Britnell and Irene Taylor have already raised more than £4,000 for Action Medical through various different rides but this challenge represents their toughest yet,

They will cycle 314 miles across two different countries to get to their final Paris destination, which is a big step up from their first challenge almost two years ago

Ann Walsh said: “Our first ride in November 2009, was all of nine miles on a flat road around the village and nearly killed us.

“There were many breaks and much gasping and wheezing. However, over the weeks we gradually increased our mileage until we did our first 100km sponsored ride in June 2010.”

All proceeds will go to Action Medical, which helps improve the health of young babies.
