A THAME adventurer who is running the width of the country for young carers is getting support from the rotary organisation.

Nigel Pattison, pictured left, plans to run 150 miles coast-to-coast from Workington to Tynemouth, the equivalent of six marathons in six days.

Nigel hopes to raise £5,000 in support of Thame Young Carers and has so far managed £2,000.

In support of Nigel’s fundraising efforts, members of the Thame Rotary Club have been doing street collections in past few weeks while Nigel was running in front of the free range shop on a treadmill in the High Street.

To save him incurring accommodation costs, the Rotary Club of Thame asked clubs from the north of England for support with accommodation.

The response was overwhelming and clubs like Workington Derwent, Penrith, Consett, Wickam Clavering, Tynemouth and North Shields are all set to provide Nigel with overnight stays.

Mo Westcott, president of the Thame club said: “With the support of seven rotary clubs we will reduce Nigel’s accommodation expenses during the 6 days of his challenge.

“This will enable more money to be donated to Thame Young Carers.”
