A man has been charged with historical rape and indecent assault offences which allegedly took place at hospitals in the Aylesbury area, including Stoke Mandeville.

Dr Michael Salmon, 78, a retired Stoke Mandeville consultant, is alleged to have carried out the offences against four victims from 1972 to 1985.

Dr Salmon, from Wood Green, Hampshire, has today been charged with one count of rape and four counts of indecent assault.

The charges stem from the Metropolitan Police Service’s Operation Yewtree, which was set up following the Jimmy Savile allegations.

He has been bailed to appear at Aylesbury Magistrates’ Court on December 17.
