Paralympian to carry the torch

MARTIN McElhatton, the boss of WheelPower which runs Stoke Mandeville Stadium, will help carry the Paralympic torch from Buckinghamshire to the Olympic Stadium.

The 1984 wheelchair basketball Paralympian is one of 580 people chosen to carry the flame during a 24 hour overnight relay – which begins after the Paralympic flame has been forged at Stoke Mandeville Stadium in a special ceremony on August 28.

Mr McElhatton said he was ‘thrilled to be part of this historic moment’.
