A newlywed police officer put Thame’s cricketers in a spin when she staged an impromptu pitch invasion after her wedding.

Dominique Knightley had earlier married Ian Lucas at St Joseph’s Church and the happy couple were holding their reception at the Thame Barns Centre.

Noticing a match was taking place and not content with the usual wedding photos, Dominique’s sisters convinced her to take to the pitch after the meal.

Safe to say, both Thame’s players and their opposition from Tiddington were a little taken aback by the special guest rushing onto the field and throwing her arms into the air.

Lee Jones, who was the wedding photographer, said: “The players were a little shocked at what was going on to start with but the umpire was happy to stop play, he didn’t really have a choice, while Dom carried out the pitch invasion.

“There were cheers from the spectators and some of the players congratulated the bride on her day.

“The wedding was a great day and was topped off with this amazing picture.”

Ian and Dominique are both police officers and met while working in Oxford.

The wedding was on May 4.
