Olympics haven’t started yet but let’s plan ending

Bucks towns and villages already have the honour of being at the start of London 2012 celebrations by being included in the route for the Olympic torch.

And now they also have the opportunity to become part of the biggest closing event, too.

Vale bands, choirs and music groups are being sought to take part in the Bandstand Marathon which will take place on Sunday December 9, m2012.

Eric Pickles, secretary of state for communities and local government, said: “The Bandstand Marathon is a great opportunity to come together with a real sense of community to celebrate the best of your local area.”

The event is organised by national not-for-profit arts organisation Superact, which is aiming for 500 locations across UK hosting simultaneous performances as part of the Cultural Olympiad.

Bandstand Marathon has been running successfully since 2008.
