NOMINATIONS for Olympic torchbearers are now open after the route was confirmed last month.
The torch will pass through close to Thame and so residents are being encouraged to nominate anybody they feel deserves a Moment to Shine.
The Olympic torch reaches the United Kingdom on May 19 at Land’s End and will then travel the length and breadth of the country before entering the Olympic Stadium in London on July 27 to mark the official opening of the 2012 Olympiad.
On July 9, the torch reaches Oxford and it is anticipated that on the following day the relay will travel through towns and villages in Southern Oxfordshire on the way to its next stop in Reading.
There will be 2,012 places available through the public nominations designed to reward inspirational members of the public.
The nomination programme runs until the end of Wednesday June 29.
