A THAME adventurer has raised £5,000 for charity running the width of the country, the equivalent of six marathons in six days.

Nigel Pattison ran 150 miles coast-to-coast from Workington to Tynemouth in the last week of October.

Nigel raised the money in support of Thame Young Carers.

He said: “There are 50 students at Lord Williams’s School aged from 11 to 18 who care for someone in the family who is ill.

“They do this before they leave for school in the morning and when they get home from school in the afternoon.

“Missing out on all the fun their schoolmates are having. They do it however, for love of the person they are caring for and not just as a sense of duty. They prefer anonymity.”

The Rotary Club of Thame asked clubs from the north of England for support. The response was overwhelming and clubs in Workington Derwent, Penrith, Consett, Wickam Clavering, Tynemouth and North Shields provided Nigel with overnight stays.
