New chef at Thame golf club is a game guy

A new chef has been installed at a golf club on the edge of Thame.

Derek Muircroft has picked up the apron strings in the kitchens at The Oxfordshire, where he hopes to use as many locally produced products as possible.

Recently the club co-hosted a fundraising picnic for the Oxford Food Symposium where his game pies and homemade chutneys received praise from food luminaries across the county.

Mr Muircroft moves to the hotel after cooking at other Oxon kitchens including the Green Dragon in Haddenham where he held a 'Bib Gourmand' from the Michelin Guide - one of 150 chefs to receive the accolade - and two rosettes from the AA Guide.

He's also run the kitchen at the Swan Restaurant in Tetsworth and the Nut Tree in Murcott.
