An Aylesbury man died after being shot in the body with a crossbow, police said this afternoon.

Darrell Farnham, 44, was found in his Belgrave Road home at 10.45pm on Sunday night and died at the scene.

It is believed the crossbow bolt passed straight through his body.

A 40-year-old man from Aylesbury has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is in police custody.

A 37-year-old woman has also been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and is in custody.

Police say more people may be arrested in connection with the killing.

Officers are still at the scene of the crime today.

Investigating officer Det Supt Chris Ward said: “This is very much still an open investigation and we are continuing to appeal for witnesses and any information.

“We believe there could be other offenders and so we are currently concentrating on determining exactly what happened on Sunday night.

“A scene watch remains in place and I want to thank local residents once again for their help and patience whilst investigations continue.

“We have a dedicated team working to solve this crime and bring any offenders to justice and I want to reassure residents that this appears to be an isolated crime and not a random attack.”

Anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
