A TEEN driver crashed into a tree after a car travelling in the opposite direction forced him off the road.

The 17-year-old motorist was driving a silver Renault Clio on the Chilton Road in the direction of Long Crendon on Sunday, September 17, when a driver in a blue Volkswagen Polo overtook a vehicle on the opposite side of the road.

The dangerous manoeuvre meant the two cars were about to hit head on so the Clio driver was forced to swerve off the road.

The driver lost control and veered through a hedge and crashed into a tree in a nearby field.

The Polo then drove off without stopping.

PC Andy Martin, of the Thames Valley Police roads policing team, is appealing for witnesses to come forward with any information.

“I would like to speak to anyone who may have seen the collision and would also ask the Polo driver come forward,” he said.
