A MOTHER and son team have worked together to bring out a children’s poetry book.

Diana Moore, of Horton-cum-Studley, has written a humorous collection of poems, entitled A Fishy Coat Tale and Other Poems, illustrated by her son Nick.

“This book is my first children’s illustrated poetry book,” she said.

“Holding the finished product is a wonderful feeling, the process was a bit like giving birth with less physical discomfort but a long labour.”

Diana first began working with children after accepting an offer from a school which had seen her work, to help encourage kids to write creatively. This led her to develop a series of sessions offered to Key Stage Two pupils.

“It was working in the schools and the enthusiastic responses from both the children and teachers which inspired me to create the book,” she added.

“Plus, I had great support from my graphic designer son, Nick, who helped with the illustrations.

“It was so difficult trying to choose which poems to include as I’ve been writing for a long time.”

The book is now on sale at The Book House in Thame.
