More rain on the way after flood warning for Thame

A FLOOD warning was issued for the River Thame this week after the recent downpours.

At 4pm on Monday the following warning was released concerning River Thame and Chalgrove Brook: “Flooding is possible for the River Thame from Marsworth to Dorchester including, Long Marston, Rowsham, North Ayelsbury, Cuddington, Thame, Shabbington, Ickford, Waterperry, Cuddesdon, Wheatley, Quarrendon, Drayton St Leonard, Overy, the Chalgrove Brook at Chalgrove and Stadhampton.

“Low lying land and roads will be affected first.”

Over the weekend Thame had 20mm rain.

There were more downpours on Tuesday and Wednesday and further showers are forecast for today (Friday) and Monday.

An average of 14mm to maximum 28mm fell on Monday and for Tuesday it increased to around 16mm to a maximum of 30mm.

“Communities are advised to check their flood response plans.”
