Training up staff for the future of schools

A pioneering initiative for training future Aylesbury teachers has been launched.

The Bucks Teaching School Partnership brings together nine schools and is the first in the area to help the training and professional development of teachers and contribute to raising standards.

At the event at the Grange School five students told the audience how they learned better through challenging activities which allow them to think and be creative and find ways to solve problems.

Director of children’s services Sue Imbriano said: “The event clearly demonstrated the very high level of commitment to working in partnership to achieve benefits for all our children and young people in schools.

“I was particularly impressed with the contribution from young people from The Grange School who shared their views on what makes effective teaching and learning.

“They articulated very passionately and clearly what was important to them in moving their learning forward and they responded to questions from the audience with great confidence and insight.”

There’s another event on April 23 at the Grange for people interested in finding out how to train to be a teacher.
