Students’ film talents to be on show at major festivals

Two films made by children from the Pauline Quirke Academy in Aylesbury have been shortlisted for film festivals in New York and Stoke on Trent.

Children aged 10 to 12 made and starred in CTRL, a short film about a young boy who finds a remote control in a school rubbish bin and uses it to control his friends.

The silent film was screened at the Empire Cinema in Leicester Square back in November and will now form part of the ‘kidsfilmfest’ at the Brooklyn Film Festival.

Another of the academy’s films, Boy Soldiers, was made by students aged 11 to 14 and is about a schoolboy who is transported back to the trenches of Passchendaele where he experiences what it was like to be a WWI boy soldier.

It has now been shortlisted in to the ‘best student film’ category at the Stoke Your Fires film festival in Stoke to be held in March.
