Small school’s big idea pays off with sing song day at O2
A group of schoolchildren got a chance to belt out their favourite tunes at a world famous music venue.
Tetsworth Primary School graced the O2 Arena just as the likes of The Rolling Stones and Coldplay have done.
The school took 15 children along to the Young Voices concert in London for the second time in as many years.
Parent and school governor Petra Eden Parish said: “It’s such a good atmosphere. Lots of them are really excited to get together and to meet other schools. We are quite a small school.”
The event on January 29 was supported by professional musicians and Mrs Eden Parish said the kids spent two to three months preparing for the day.
She added: “They went up on the day for a whole day of rehearsals. It’s a long old day for them.
“My son went and he was absolutely shattered but he loved it.”
Mrs Eden Parish’s son, Huw, who had his chance to sing everything from Slade to Olly Murs, said: “The O2 was brilliant there were so many people. I couldn’t stop dancing to the music and I really enjoyed singing.”
Mrs Eden Parish said the kids performed for two hours. The event itself is one of many held throughout the country by Young Voices which is the largest school choir organiser in the world.
She added: “We try to give them exposure to as many of these things as we can.
“It follows on from our motto ‘small school, big ideas’.”
