A man suffered serious injuries, including two punctured lungs, in a head-on collision between two cars as police try to track down a third that failed to stop at the scene.

Another man escaped with minor injuries following the incident near Wingrave. Both were taken to Stoke Mandeville Hospital and have since been discharged.

Police are looking for the driver of a third car thought to have been involved in the crash but which failed to stop at the scene.

The incident, on the A418 Aylesbury Road, happened when a black Vauxhall Meriva travelling towards Wing collided with a grey Hyundai i10 heading in the opposite direction. The crash took place at around 6.50am on Wednesday, police revealed on Sunday.

PC Ryan Whiles of roads policing, said: “We would like to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and saw anything relating to this incident. We would also be keen to speak to anyone who saw a dark car leaving the scene of this collision.”

Anyone with information should contact PC Whiles on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
