A young girl and a man have been injured in a hit and run in Aylesbury.

A 40-year-old man was carrying the girl, 10, across Wendover Road near the junction with Eascote Road when a black Audi car hit him.

The man suffered serious leg injuries and remains in Stoke Mandeville Hospital. The girl fell to the ground and her legs were also injured, but she has since been released from hospital.

Police are hunting the car which crashed into the man and failed to stop at the scene and appealed for anyone who has seen a damaged Audi to come forward.

The incident took place just after midnight on Sunday.

PC Colin Riley, investigating officer, said: “The vehicle may have sustained damage and so we ask if you have any information about this incident please contact us at Amersham Roads Policing or Crimestoppers as a matter of urgency.”

Anyone with information should call PC Riley on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
