A woman accused of lying to police in relation to a murder inquiry has applied to have the charges dismissed.

Kathleen Adams, of Princes Risborough, is charged with providing a false statement to police when they were looking for Patricia Goodband.

It is alleged she lied when she told police she spoke to Ms Goodband on the phone on December 19 and that she had told her she was going away for Christmas.

The accused has asked for the prosecution’s case to be dismissed. A decision is due to be taken on April 22.

Grandmother-of-two Ms Goodband’s body was found in the grounds of her home in Woodham, near Waddesdon on January 21. A post-mortem examination found that the 76 year old died from head injuries.

Christopher Symons, 63, of Thackeray End, Aylesbury, has been charged with her murder. Former Aylesbury Town Council grave digger Robert Taft, 59, of Westcott, is charged with perverting the course of justice.

Both men are due in court to enter a plea on April 22.
