Very belated news has reached me of the birth of Keon Harry to Jeni Sawyer, ne Sadler, (SMS) and her husband, David, on March 14 - the first grandchild for Dr Jonathan Sadler and his wife Rosalie.

Incidentally, Jeni's younger sister, Charlotte (SMS), who has been teaching in Camberley for the past 2 years, has a new job at the John Colet School, Wendover, from September.

Marriages. A number of weddings have taken place at St Mary's Church in the last few weeks and all have been conducted by the vicar, the Rev Chris Denham.

Nicola (CFS), daughter of villagers Larry and Lynn Lewis, married Adam Sutherland from Wales on June 23 and Elaine, her younger sister, was one of the bridesmaids. The couple live in Fairford Leys and Adam works in the office of his new father-in- law's landscape gardening business. Nicola has been working for some years at Janssen-Cilag, Saunderton.

Amy, daughter of villagers Brian and Pat Cummings, who moved to Haddenham from Thame when Amy was 7, married Anthony Coates from Bishop Auckland, Durham, on June 30. The couple live in Newbury and Amy works with horses as a freelance event groomer. Her husband is in the army.

Viv(ienne) (SMS), the daughter of villager Colin Nicholls and the late Dr Sue Nicholls, married Ian Wootten on July 7. Viv's younger sister Joy (Trevivian) was maid of honour, and school friend and neighbour Penny Stradling was one of the bridesmaids, along with Ian's sister Jenny. Viv qualified as a doctor last year - at the University of Wales College of Medicine in Cardiff - and has been working at Neville Hall Hospital, Abergavenny, since then, but begins a new job at Merthyr Tydfil Hospital this month. Her husband is currently doing a PhD in Computer Programming and Joy (SMS), who married two years ago, is working in the education department in Bristol. Among the guests at the wedding was school friend Naomi Grayson (SMS) who has recently started her 3 year GP training in Cardiff. Her father, Robin Grayson, a former maths teacher at Aylesbury Grammar School, became a vicar in Langley near Slough last year.

Joanna (SMS), daughter of villagers Ray and Cherry Waller, married Mark Rowles from Essex on July 21 and Joanna's cousin, Donna Plastow, was one of the bridesmaids. The couple, who live in Haddenham, met when they worked together at a hotel in Salisbury whilst they were both on a catering course but Mark now fits intruder alarms and Jo works as a PA in Princes Risborough.
