No flood worries for Thame this year

Floods should pose no problems this year

Floods should pose no problems this year

Thame residents will be better protected from floods this year after defence schemes received £500,000 more than last year’s funding.

The Environmental Agency’s Regional Flood and Coastal Committee has given £10.5 million to schemes across London and the Thames Valley for the upcoming year.

The projects will offer greater protection to the 1.7 million people at risk of flooding from the Thames or one of its tributaries and the 3.8 million people at risk from surface water flooding in the Thames catchment area.

RFCC Chairman Amanda Nobbs said: “I am extremely pleased that our committee members have voted to provide a contribution of £10.5 million to help manage flood risk in local communities.”
