Thame man Francisco Mendi in Santiago after 900km bike ride

A Thame man has completed a mammoth 900km solo bike ride across northern Spain ahead of schedule.

Francisco Mendi took on the challenge of riding the Way of St James, beginning in northern France and finishing in Santiago de Compostela, where he arrived last Friday, two days ahead of schedule.

After completing the gruelling ride, Mr Mendi wrote on his blog, which he has been updating throughout his journey: “I arrived to Santiago overwhelmed with emotions. It’s been such an amazing moment that I cannot find the words to express all the emotions, feelings and thoughts that crossed my mind at that moment. The only thing I am sure of is that I’m here, I don’t know how but here I am and that it’s been Saint James the one who helped me all the way to get here.”

Mr Mendi is raising money for Cancer Research UK after his aunt was diagnosed with breast cancer. So far he has raised nearly £3,000. Read more at cyclesolotheway.blogspot.co.uk/
