Bargain hunters are expected to descend on fashion retailer H&M when it opens in Aylesbury in three weeks time – and those prepared to queue have been offered a very lucrative reward.

The new Friars Square shop, which counts exclusive David Beckham-designed underwear among its range, will open its doors to shoppers at 11am on January 31.

To mark to event, customers in the queue before 11am on opening day will receive a wristband entitling them to 25% off in store.

Andy Margieson, Friars Square manager, said the opening is ‘fantastic’ news for Aylesbury.

He said: “It’s good news for everybody, whether you’re a shopper or looking for employment.

“It’s going to increase our footfall at a time when most of the other shopping centres are struggling.

“This is part one of our development plan. Watch this space.”

Some 50 new full and part-time jobs will be created in the 20,000 sq ft three-storey store.

Carols Duarte, H&M’s UK and Ireland manager, said: “We are delighted to be opening our first UK store for 2013 at Friars Square, Aylesbury.

“Both the town and the wider Aylesbury Vale are important locations for us as we expand our UK operations.

“We are really looking forward to bringing our fantastic collections to shoppers at Friars Square.”
