Hospital targets end of 2013 for finishing Savile investigation
Bucks Healthcare NHS Trust has said it is managing its investigation into the Jimmy Savile sex abuse scandal ‘at pace’.
The trust runs Stoke Mandeville Hospital where the late DJ abused at least 22 victims and it has now set a target of concluding its investigation, Speaking Out, by the end of the year.
Chief executive Ann Eden said: “The board can be assured that this serious matter is being managed at pace, but with the necessary rigour and independence.
“Once again, I would stress the importance of people coming forward; staff, ex-patients, members of the public.”
New information indicates that Thames Valley Police have received 33 reports of cases related to Savile at the hospital.
Since setting up a specific panel for the investigation, the team has met with its counterparts from Broadmoor and Leeds Teaching Hospitals to discuss areas of working jointly and sharing funding.
The team has also started examining its archived documents for incidents which are claimed to have taken place in the 90s.
Savile was previously revered at the hospital where he helped raise more than £40 million for the National Spinal Injuries Centre.
