Fingers crossed for rain-free rally
A record number of early entries have already been received for one of the largest single day outdoor vehicle events in the country.
Organisers will be casting anxious eyes to the heavens on May 19, when the latest Chiltern Hills Rally is due to take place. Within a week of entries opening, the organising Game Club had received 120 confirmations – an all-time best. But last year’s rally at Aylesbury Rugby Club was rained off for the first time in the event’s 20-year history.
The Game Club donates proceeds to local good causes and in 2011 there were about 1,000 entrants, with classes including classic cars, buses, engines, tractors, motorcycles, scooters and commercials. This year, there are also plans for an auto jumble and dog show, making it a big event for all the family.
Since its inception 20 years ago, the rally has raised around £250,000 for charity and good causes in Aylesbury Vale.
